Community Outreach Day / Skill Demo Report – Thakurmunda Centre

Purpose: Skill Demo & Electrical Safety Awareness Activity to mark the DB Tech 20 Years Celebration

Introduction

The DB Tech Thakurmunda Centre team conducted a Community Outreach Day / Skill Demo at Heritage English Medium School on 12 December 2025. The objective was to introduce school students to basic electrical concepts and safety practices, while also highlighting the importance of skill-based vocational training.

This activity was part of the DB Tech 20 Years Celebration – Week 7. The event aimed to create awareness about electrical hazards at home, demonstrate safe practices, and inspire youth to explore career opportunities in the Electrician Domestic Solutions (EDS) trade.

Participants

The event was conducted by:

  • Centre Head: Sarat Kumar Tripathy
  • Staff Members: Mrs. Rasmita Behera, Mrs. Golap Behera
  • Trainees: Electrician Domestic Solutions (EDS) trainees actively participated, demonstrating practical skills and engaging students in interactive learning.

Number of Participants: 30 students and staff members

Key Activities

Electrician Domestic Solutions Demonstrations:

  1. Electrical Safety Awareness Talk
    • Dangers of touching switches with wet hands
    • Avoiding overloaded sockets
    • Safe use of chargers and electrical appliances
  2. Interactive Activity: Identifying Unsafe Electrical Practices
    • Trainees displayed printed photos of unsafe electrical situations
    • Students identified hazards such as damaged wires, loose connections, and wet hands near switches

Outcomes

  • Students gained awareness of electrical safety at home and in school
  • Interactive activities made learning fun and memorable
  • Strengthened school–centre collaboration
  • Increased visibility of DB Tech Thakurmunda Centre within the local community

Conclusion

The outreach activity was highly successful. The EDS trainees demonstrated confidence in presenting their skills, and students actively participated in discussions and games. The event effectively conveyed the importance of electrical safety while promoting the value of vocational training.
